Introducing the International Sleep Charity Global Webinar Series

Global challenges are numerous - preexisting and new. 2020 is and continues to be one of the most tumultuous years of recent times. At International Sleep Charity, our primary focus is helping people sleep better through facilitating accessible education, scientific research and a platform for collaboration.

Announcing the launch of our webinar series is a milestone for us. Many months of planning and hard work has lead to this point. Accessibility being one of our core values, The International Sleep Charity Global Webinar Series will be open to all with an internet connection through Zoom and each session will be approximately 45 minutes in length. We will invite expert clinicians, thought-leaders and scientists to give a brief talk about their life’s work and then conduct a relaxed, but ‘intelligent’ conversation with our guest, taking inspiration from the interviewing style of the late Sir David Tang. A redacted summary of each webinar will be available in podcast form after the live event.

Our inaugural webinar keynote will be lead by world-renowned neurologist Professor Michael Chee of National University Singapore (NUS):

Professor Michael Chee is Director of the Centre for Sleep and Cognition, NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. An internal medicine physician and neurologist by training, Mike’s present research seeks to reduce the impact of degraded or restricted sleep on cognitive performance, well-being and health-span. Notable is his advocacy for science and its relevance to the common man. His work has appeared in leading international media such as Time Magazine, the Economist, and the BBC. He has appeared in scientific documentaries and has written commentaries on topics on health, science and the importance of sleep. In 2009, he received the National Outstanding Clinician-Scientist Award. In 2020, he became an inaugural Fellow of the Organization of Human Brain Mapping. 

His webinar will be entitled ‘The Need For Sleep – the case for improving Adolescent Sleep’ and will commence at 14:30 British Standard Time/21:30 Singapore Standard Time/09:30 Eastern Daylight Time on Wednesday 15th July 2020. We can’t wait for you to join us.
